Carmelita |
And although the Government Training Board have been more than willing to help her she said it was difficult to take advantage of their assistance. "They've been calling me to do this computer course," she said. "But it's during the day, from 9 till 4, and I work. It would be nice if they did it at night." Fortunately she enjoys her jobs. Being a Bacardi Girl is a lot of fun, she said, but working at Teen Services demands a lot more from her. "I get to see all the teenagers coming in with problems," she said. "I have to be an example for them, especially the ones doing the schooling there." Carmelita is interested in the world beyond Bermuda's shores. Egypt would be her number one travel destination, she said, having always wanted to see the pyramids, and she loves traveling to places she has never been. Even with her plans to live and work in Miami, though, she said she would come back to visit Bermuda, especially in the summertime. And what would she tell young people in Bermuda about achieving their goals? "Make sure you finish high school, get good grades," she said. "Strive for the best and maybe somebody will help assist you in your future goals." |
