About Kate
Everyone loves to be pampered.
Don't deny it - we all know if we could have professionally done massages
every day we would. As Face & Body aesthetician Kate Webb pointed
out, there is always a call for spa and beauty treatments. But her job
as a skin care specialist/masseuse is not what brought her to Bermuda
from England - it was simply the means to get her here.
A graduate from the London College of Fashion (part of the London Institute),
Kate ran her own beauty/massage business in London. She also dabbled in
several other areas such as fashion design ("I design my own stuff
if I'm bored enough,") and modeling for the men's magazine FHM. In
fact, it was one of her beauty clients who introduced her to her agent.
"I loved that, I did it for about two years," she said. "It
was good fun really, but I was very busy, so I couldn't jump into it."
She hadn't really thought about traveling the world until two of her best
friends left London to live and work in one of Bermuda's world-class spas.
"I came out a year ago for a two-week holiday to visit them, and
ended up staying five weeks," the twenty-two year old explained.
It was during that visit that she met her "fabulous" boyfriend,
who traveled back to London with her when she had to leave. Although the
agents in London were very interested in Kate's boyfriend also, Kate had
made her decision - it was time to leave London.
Three months later she was back in Bermuda. "Now I'm here living
with him," she said happily. "If you're going to do it, do it
properly. That's probably my motto, actually. Among many, of course."
As for the move from one of the world's largest and most cosmopolitan
cities to The Rock: "It's a whole other world from what I'm used
to," Kate said. "It's very laid back, it's nice - it's beautiful.

"I just came here to chill - it's all very exclusive and glamorous
in London. It's all about image, image, image - it's so boring. Here it's
just gorgeous."
As in London, Kate meets the world through her job. "It's nice working,
I can meet different people from different walks of life," she said.
"That's why I love my job - I can go wherever I want. There's always
a call for it. People love to be pampered, don't they.
"I'm just having such a good time. I have a fabulous boyfriend, fabulous
friends, a fabulous apartment, a good job - I'm just having a ball."
Now that she's started moving, however, Kate doesn't want to stop. "I
want to travel a bit - Hawaii, Australia, Thailand. I'll always want to
go back to London - I'm a city girl through and through. But now that
I've made the step here, I want to keep going. I haven't got a clue exactly
where - somewhere gorgeous.
"I'm doing things for fun right now until I decide to settle again
- which may be London, may be I don't know where. I'm 22 years old, no
kids, not married - just letting the wind take me to exotic places."
Is being so free scary? "No, not at all - obviously there's a reason
why I'm here, you know. It's fun, it's good fun," she replied.
Then she added: "I think it's scarier to stay in one place all your
life, to be honest."
- Since this interview, Kate has returned to the UK
