Hi Guys, I am writing in response to the question posted on March23rd in regard to Bermuda and affordable housing for low income families, Obviously this person is unaware of the new R.G.I. (Rent Geared to Income) program set up by the Bermuda Housing Cooperation in which you pay 1/4 of your monthly income towards rent and save 10% towards your own home if you desire to use it for those purposes when it becomes available at the end of your tenancy with them. This is available to ALL their tenants. I myself am a single mother living in a brand new 2 bed 2 bath apartment courtesy of this program. So efforts are being made, maybe not enough to help everyone but I feel that not just the government but everyone especially greedy landlords need to take part in fixing this,but I had to give credit where its due!
